Occasionally, they meet in the morning and afternoon upon prior arrangement with Father Joy or with Father Jean-Gabriel Charles according to individual schedule and personal circumstances. During Lent and the Holy times of meetings are adjusted to allow parish volunteers and helpers to participate in The Stations Of The Cross and Confessions.

Adult Bible Study/Discussion/Prayer
This season’s Adult Bible Discussion Group will begin Sunday morning September 30th in the Kitchen of the Parish Hall. It begins at 9:15 and ends at 10:30. Why not join us!We would love it if you did. All adults from both St. Angela and St. Matthew Parishes are invited. Bibles are furnished. If you have never opened a Bible in your life, that’s okay. Your level of Biblical knowledge or proficiency is not the important thing. Your desire to learn is what really matters. We will pray and learn together.
The sacred Synod of the Second Vatican Council earnestly urges all the Christian faithful to learn by frequent reading and study of the Sacred Scriptures the “…excellent knowledge of Jesus Christ” (Phil 3,8).
The Vatican II Constitution tells us that if we read and study the scriptures in the light of faith our understanding of all truth stored up in the mystery of Christ will be powerfully strengthened and be constantly brought to new levels of understanding and insight for us.
We look forward to seeing you there. Our initial focus will be on the Scripture readings of that day. This will help us prepare to more fully participate in that Sunday’s Mass.

If you are entering 9th grade (high school) you are ready for the Confirmation program. Students must be baptized and should have received First Communion. Confirmation is a two-year program that typically takes place in 9th and 10th grade. However the preparation program is open to all high school students who have not yet been confirmed. If you are in high school and did not enter the program in 9th grade and would like to register for Confirmation please contact the Confirmation Program Coordinator, Josette Beaubrun. Thanks,

Hour of Divine Mercy / Hour of Great Mercy3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
The Divine Mercy is a Roman Catholic devotion to the merciful love of God and the desire to let that love and mercy flow through one’s own heart towards those in need of it.
The devotion is due to Saint Mary Faustina Kowalska (1905-1938), who is known as the Apostle of Mercy.
The three main themes of the devotion are:
- to ask for and obtain the mercy of God,
- to trust in Christ’s abundant mercy,
- and finally to show mercy to others and act as a conduit for God’s mercy towards them.
The devotion includes specific prayers such as the Chaplet of Divine Mercy [audio].
The primary focus of the Divine Mercy devotion is the merciful love of God and the desire to let that love and mercy flow through one’s own heart towards those in need of it. As he dedicated the Shrine of Divine Mercy, Pope John Paul II referred to this when he said:
“Apart from the mercy of God there is no other source of hope for mankind“.
As in the prayers that form the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, there are three main themes to the Divine Mercy devotion – listed see above.
The first and second elements relate to the signature “Jesus I trust in You” on the Divine Mercy image and Faustina stated that on April 28, 1935, the day the first Divine Mercy Sunday was celebrated, Jesus told her:
“Every soul believing and trusting in My Mercy will obtain it.“
In her diary Faustina wrote that Jesus specified three o’clock each afternoon (3PM) as the hour at which mercy was best received, and asked her to pray the Chaplet of Mercy:
“As often as you hear the clock strike the third hour immerse yourself completely in My mercy, adoring and glorifying it, invoke its omnipotence for the whole world, and particularly for poor sinners, for at that moment mercy was opened wide for every soul.“
Three o’clock in the afternoon corresponds to the hour at which Jesus died on the cross. This hour is called the “Hour of Divine Mercy” or the “Hour of great mercy“.

The Good Catholic Life is a Catholic radio show created and broadcasted in Boston and hosted by folks who grew up in and know the Boston area.
It is all about living a good Catholic life in our hometown – i.e. Mattapan, Hyde Park, Roslindale, Dorchester, Milton, Randolph, Avon, Brockton, etc … The regular host is Scot Landry and he is joined each day by a regular rotating series of co-hosts as well as guests to discuss a variety of topics of interest to Catholics and non-Catholics alike.
